So tell me about the rainy season... Reply with quote

Hi everyone!

So glad I found this site - I have been trying for months to get a real idea of exactly when the rainy season ends in Huatulco, and how wet it gets!

My fiance and I get married at the end of August and want to go on honeymoon to Huatulco as soon as possible afterwards BUT being from Manchester, England, we see plenty of rain so more than a short shower each day will certainly get in the way of our holiday.

I've heard that the 'rainy season' runs through til the end of October and is worst during September - but also that even at the most rainy times there isn't much rain to speak of!

What we need to know is how long should we delay going to Huatulco to be as sure as possible we will miss most of the rain? We are currently thinking of leaving it until mid October so we would be there for the last two weeks of October, but we are a bit sad to leave it so long after our wedding.

What does everyone think? Thank you so much for any advice you can offer!

Also, can you give me an idea of prices in the local restaurants around La Crucesita and Santa Cruz as we will want to eat out most evenings. Thank you!

Hmm rain eh?

I am actually from up north myslef and rain is a big reason I left. I understand you reluctance to spend a honeymoon with rain. However, it is totally unreliable whern it arrives. It may not rain at all in August (though it usually does) and then proceed to chuck it down all through Octobar.

Last year August was lovely, a bit of rain and lots of sunshine, plus the heat had gone from the summer. Lovely and green and lush.

October we had a few days of storms.

I think that you are fine in August, though do not quote me later on it.

Thanks! Our wedding is the end of August so we would be looking at going at the start of September at the earliest. Does it usually get wetter or drier going through September to October?

September can be really fine. October is the best month to come, but it COULD be really stormy too. September is good do not worry.

It's relatively cool (for summer) and everything is so green. Also there is nobody here, so all the beaches will be yours.
