I am considering driving my car to Huatulco for an extended stay. I will be crossing the border in Brownsville Texas, but am wondering what the best routes would be. Has anyone done this and can you give an indication as to what routes would be best. Also what time of year is better considering road conditions. I do think toll roads would be worth the extra expense. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We drive to Huatulco every year via Brownsville, the roads are pretty good, got to Victoria, than Tampico, Esmeraldo Coast to Veracruz, follow route to Acayuacn, south just before Salina cruz and the coast to Bahias de Huatulco, have fun!!!

Yes thats a good route. Its a bit rough between Acuyacan and Mateos Romero, as it's not toll, ... but ugly.

The route from Salina Cruz to Coyul is ok too, after that there are many curves, but then you will arrive in our lovely place so who cares?

Thanks for the info. I was also wondering about driving time. I'm thinking it would take a couple of days and was wondering about sleeping accomodations, gas, etc.
