We just came back from Huatulco from a two week holiday (stayed at the Gala Resort.) Overall, our trip was excellent. We decided to avoid the organized tours and hire locals instead for our sea and land excursions. We hire Lolo (Valentino's brother) for fishing. Lolo was accompanied by his 14 year old son, Edouardo. They were great. We went out twice with them. Price was reasonable and they made sure that we all caught at least one fish each. Some were more fortunate, of course!
As for taxi, we took your advice and called up Marcos. We were very pleased with him. Very pleasant and easy to understand. He took us to Puerto Escondido, then to the beach known for surfing competitions, followed by Puerto Angeles on the way back. Although he drives quite fast, we felt very safe with him. Highway 200 which we were on has a speed limit of 40 km but he was going anywhere from 80 to 110 km most of the time. Nobody abides by the posted speed limit there!
We had even printed out your message and showed it to Marcos. He had a big smile!!! |
